The commander of Sector West of UNIFIL and of the Italian contingent, Brigadier General Salvatore Cuoci, spoke on Saturday at a meeting of local municipalities that was held in the city of Bint Jbeil.
The meeting, which was attended by the representatives of all the municipalities of the district coordinated by the mayor of the capital Afif Bazzi, was the occasion for General Cuoci to present and explain the transparent and impartial attitude that Military Civil Cooperation (CIMIC) of the Italian contingent wishes to share with all the municipalities of the area, in order to build a climate of mutual trust - confidence building - which is indispensable in order to face this kind of mission with an all-encompassing approach.
The mayor of Bint Jbeil expressed during the meeting gratitude and gratitude to General Cuoci for the proximity and continuous attention of the Italian contingent towards the population of the area, underlining the importance of UNIFIL's role in favor of stability and security of the area.
Support for local authorities and the restoration of conditions for assistance to the population are among the main tasks - together with the monitoring of the cessation of hostilities and support for the Lebanese armed forces - assigned to UNIFIL by the UN 1701 Resolution.
