Lebanon: the 183 paratroop regiment Nembo takes over from the lancers of Montebello

The transfer of responsibility of the Italian-led operational battalion between the Montebello lancers and the paratroopers of the 183 regiment "Nembo" and of the 3 regiment took place in Al Mansouri in Lebanon. Savoy paratroopers cavalry.

Colonel Mariano Bianchi and his paratroopers will operate under the aegis of the United Nations in compliance with resolution 1701 with the main tasks of monitoring and preventing the cessation of hostilities, of supporting the Lebanese armed forces in the conduct of control activities in the South of the country , as well as assisting the local population with Civil and Military Cooperation projects.

As part of the UNIFIL Mission, the sector under the Italian command employed by General Rodolfo Sganga, extends from the peripheral areas of the city of Tire, to the extreme south of the Lebanese territory close to the border area with Israel.

It is composed of about 3700 men from 12 different nations and is divided into 5 sectors assigned one to Italy precisely, one to the Ghanaians, one to the Irish and the Finns and one to the Malays and one to the Koreans.
