Lebanon: Italian soldiers carry out training courses for Lebanese security forces

As part of the fulfillment of the Mission, in compliance with the 1701 resolution that provides support to the Lebanese armed forces, the training activities carried out by the people of the West Sector of UNIFIL.

The first course of Military Police Procedures "MP Procedures Course" conducted by the Italian carabinieri in favor of twenty-five military of the State Security of the regional district of Nabatieh.

The aim of the course was to transmit the basic techniques of escorting and protecting VIPs and convoys, the techniques of search and handcuffing and how to correctly perform a first intervention at the crime scene. The activities are aimed at making the Lebanese security forces increasingly specialized, even in these very technical sectors.

Furthermore, yesterday the 2nd Italian language course started by the military personnel of Sector West and by the Dante Alighieri association, in favor of 17 officers of the General Security Lebanese. The teaching activity, which will end in February 2018, is developed on two types of class, a basic one, aimed at acquiring everyday expressions and basic phrases to satisfy needs of a concrete type, and an advanced one that guarantees the achievement of a autonomy in elementary communication contexts.

Il Italian Language Project is intended to confer the certification diploma issued by the Dante Alighieri Society on the basis of an agreement with the MAECI, with the University "La Sapienza" of Rome and is recognized by the Ministry of Labor and Social Policies by the MIUR as a title for the university enrollment of foreign students, from the Ministry of the Interior as a necessary qualification for the foreigner intending to request the issuance of the EC residence permit for long-term residents in Italy.
