Lebanon: the Italian blue helmets engaged in the "Tiger" exercise

Il Sector West Unifil, an Italian leader, led to Tiro an important evacuation and security exercise aimed at the civil personnel of the United Nations operating in South Lebanon, called "Tiger".

The "Tiger" exercise, which involved the assets of Italbatt and della Sector Mobile Reserve (the Sector Reserve), both on the basis of the "Genova Cavalleria" regiment, was followed by the Force Commander of Unifil, the Irish general Michael Beary and the commander of the Italian contingent, the brigadier general Ugo Cillo, and had the aim of maintaining a high level of preparation of the individual contingents in the event of a real evacuation of Unifil civilian personnel.

The current mission in Lebanon is a brigade of "Pozzuolo del Friuli" cavalry, which has been in charge of Unifil's Sector West for about two months and guarantees the control of the territory, as sanctioned by the 1701 resolution of the Security Council of the Nations Unite, in close coordination with the Lebanese armed forces.

The Italian battalion of maneuver, in addition to the "Genoa Cavalleria" is composed of regiments structures: "Lancieri di Novara" (5 °) and of the 132 ° artillery "Aries".
