The Italian blue helmets, based on the Alpine Brigade Taurinense and the Civil Affair office of UNIFIL, concluded the first week of educational propaganda aimed at raising awareness on road safety in the intermediate schools of the city of Tire.

The awareness campaign was addressed to around 200 secondary school students and saw the International Military Police and the Carabinieri of the Italian contingent as educators and demonstrators.

The activity is the result of the fruitful cooperation between the Sector West, the schools, the municipalities and the civil cooperation of UNIFIL engaged in a theoretical and practical project useful to raise awareness among Lebanese young people on road safety, accident prevention and respect for the road traffic regulations in force in Lebanon.

The project, in agreement with the civic and scholastic authorities, will continue in the coming weeks, involving schools in the major cities of southern Lebanon such as Bint Jubail and Tibnin and involving the local police of the municipalities of the western sector in the educational days.

The carabinieri contribute to the cooperation activities between UNIFIL and the Lebanese Internal Security Force (ISF), carrying out specialization courses for local police and carrying out joint activities with them in the major urban centers of the south.
