Lebanon: the Italian "Blue Helmets" at the Tibnin summer festival

Five hundred children from the village of Tibnin, in southern Lebanon, made a date last Saturday in the small town square in the province of Bint Jbeil to take part in a summer festival.

They have been festive hours of music and playful entertainment, but also an opportunity for meeting and cultural growth very much felt by minors and their families thanks to the participation of Italian "blue helmets" in the unusual role of animators.

During the event, organized by the "Lebanese Association for Human Promotion and Alphabetization", the young protagonists stormed the stands where the Italian soldiers prepared the pizza, distributed drinks and set up art workshops where creative activities took place face painting e balloon art.

The afternoon was enlivened by the musicians of the band of the "Sassari" brigade who snatched the applause of those present at the end of a series of excerpts from the famous soundtracks of Disney cartoons.

Present at the event, in addition to the deputy mayor of Tibnin, was the commander of Sector West and the president of the association.

The initiative is part of the civil-military cooperation activities promoted by the Italian contingent in the western sector of southern Lebanon, aimed at consolidating collaborative relationships with local communities.
