The Italian contingent in Lebanon participated, in recent days in Naqoura, in the multinational exercise "Steel Storm" which involved the maneuvering forces of all nationalities operating under UN leadership in southern Lebanon and the Lebanese Armed Forces (THE F).
At the exercise, which had the purpose of perfecting the training of the blue helmets with the Lebanese Armed Forces, the Italian blue helmets took part in ITALBATT and the Sector Mobile Reserve of the West Sector, all belonging to the "Genova Cavalleria" regiment (4 °).
Support for the LAF is one of the tasks assigned by the 1701 Resolution of the UN Security Council in the 2006, together with the monitoring of the cessation of hostilities and the support to the population.
ITALBATT in addition to the "Genoa Cavalry" regiment is composed of the "Lancieri di Novara" regiment (5 °) and the 132 "Ariete" artillery regiment. The current mission in Lebanon is entrusted to the "Pozzuolo del Friuli" cavalry Brigade.
