Lebanon: joint exercise "White Thunder 2017" between Italian blue helmets and the LAF

The "White Thunder 2017", joint exercise between the Italian UN peacekeepers and the Lebanese Armed Forces (LAF) at the end of the "Crowd and Riot Control & Unarmed Fight ”.

The course was conducted by military instructors in the ITALBATT Task Force established on the "Genova Cavalleria" (4 °) regiment base and with elements of the "Lancieri di Novara" regiment (5 °) and the 132 "Ariete ", And had the purpose of getting the visitors to the main techniques of crowd control and personal defense, including the techniques to be adopted during the checks at checkpoints.

The soldiers of the LAF, have carried out an intense period of training both theoretical and practical with the Italian instructors, which has allowed them to develop notions that they could apply during the execution of their institutional activities.

The level reached by those attending the course highlighted, once again, the synergy reached between the UNIFIL blue helmets and the LAFs, according to the provisions of the 1701 Resolution of the UN Security Council, which foresees, among the focal points, the support to the Lebanese Armed Forces. The final exercise was attended by high officials of the Southern Lebanese LAF, and the commander of the Sector West general Ugo Cillo.

The current mission in Lebanon is to lead the "Pozzuolo del Friuli" cavalry brigade, in its fifth mandate in Operation "Leonte".
