Lebanon: "EOD DAY", bomb disposal day

Today, at the UNIFIL base located in the municipality of Dibil, the Finnish-Irish battalion, employed by Sector West, organized a EOD workshop, an activity aimed at increasing the interoperability of the bomb disposal teams present with the UN blue helmet in Land of the Cedars.

Ben 8 the participating teams, from different countries. Italians, Irish, Finns, Chinese, Malaysians, Spaniards, Cambodians and Estonians have been able to compare equipment and materials, in an exchange of information that is fundamental for a profession that is continuously updated like that of the blaster.

The EOD teams (Explosive Ordnance Disposal - Remediation of explosive devices) have the task of intervening in a few minutes in the event of the discovery of unexploded ordnance or of the infamous IEDs, improvised handmade bombs and extremely complex deactivation. The UNIFIL bomb experts also assist the Lebanese army teams with cutting-edge skills and materials.

Taurinense bomb squads come from the 32 ° regiment of genius warriors in Turin, the same ones that in Italy ensure intervention on war bombs, about 150 per year, found in the regions of Piedmont, Liguria and Valle d'Aosta.
