Lebanon: sweeper given to local municipalities

The Italian soldiers, employed in the UNIFIL mission in Lebanon, yesterday inaugurated a sweeper motorcycle destined for the municipalities of southern Lebanon.

Brigadier General Francesco Olla, commander of the Joint Task Force-Lebanon, received in the city of Bint Jbeil by local and civil authorities, attended the ceremony prepared for the important donation of the contingent to support the population.

Result of work and projects by the staff of CIMIC (Civil and Military Cooperation) which has always worked in favor of local authorities and non-governmental associations, the sweeper has been donated to improve the conditions and quality of life of the Lebanese population who lives south of the Litani River, in compliance with the provisions of the UN Security Council Resolution 1701 of the 2006.

Afif Bazzi, mayor of Bint Jbeil, during the speech of thanks to the Italian contingent.

Currently on the brigade base "Granatieri di Sardegna", the Joint Task Force-Lebanon is deployed in the Terra dei Cedri since 27 last April with the Italian operation "Leonte XXII", and employs a multinational contingent composed of units from twelve different contributing countries.
