Lebanon: course on the use of explosives for the Lebanese Armed Forces

The Italian instructors of the Italian Bilateral Military Mission in Lebanon recently completed the first course for the Lebanese armed forces dedicated to the use of explosives.

The activity, called "MINEX", took place at the Special Force School of Hamat 60 km north of Beirut and was conducted by a Mobile Training Team (MTT) formed by Italian soldiers of the 9 parachutist assault regiment "Col Moschin", which for three weeks have trained some units of the Lebanese special forces and personnel of the General Security Directorate (security agency of the Lebanese Ministry of the Interior).

The aim of the course was to provide students with the skills necessary for the safe handling, transport and use of explosives, in particular the use of charges for the opening of passages on walls and doors, as well as the demolition of materials such as wood, iron and concrete. The Italian instructors expressed their satisfaction with the training objectives fully achieved by the students, who demonstrated during the final exercise to be able to effectively use the techniques learned during the course. La Italian Bilateral Military Mission in Lebanon (MIBIL) is based on bilateral agreements between Italy and Lebanon, within the broader framework of the initiatives of theInternational Support Group for Lebanon (ISG), within the UN, and is aimed at implementing training and training programs in favor of the LAF /Lebanese security forces, and the establishment of a training center in southern Lebanon, where to develop the aforementioned training / training activities. The mission consists of a permanent core and ad hoc compound instructor packages (Mobile Training Teams), based on the specific requests of the Lebanese authorities.

Established in January, 2015 has so far trained more than 350 military LAFs.
