In the area of responsibility (AoR) of the Italian contingent in South Lebanon, the personal self-defense course for local women by the instructors and assistant instructors of the Joint Task Force - Lebanon.

In the first quarter of the “Leonte XXII” operation, the Italian blue helmets conducted a training cycle aimed at training female instructor aid teams, with the aim of allowing women to attend the self-defense course of all religious faiths and local cultures.

Thanks to the cooperation of CIMIC (CIvil and MIlitary Cooperation) staff with local authorities and associations, the Italian contingent will develop, from today, a series of courses aimed at acquiring the basic self-defense techniques that allow local women to face threats more frequent than typical in an environment that is not always safe.

Conducted by female assistant instructors of Italian blue helmets and under the supervision of self-defense instructors, the lessons will be aimed at managing or avoiding a physical dispute or aggression. Captain Cosimo De Vita, already responsible for the train the trainer course for female female instructor assistants, comments during the activity with local associations: "The personal defense that will be proposed is not to be understood as a set of techniques and teachings capable of using violence to physically overcome the adversary, but will exclusively include techniques and strategies for defense against aggression on a physical, psychological and verbal level. They will develop the application of movements and grips to be performed in the most effective way possible. During the course, in particular, defenses against strangulation or physical oppression will be highlighted, applying tricks and levers that allow the attacked woman to avoid the threat".

The activity will allow the attendants, in addition to learning the basic movements to free themselves and defend themselves from an attack, to acquire a safer and more serene approach in everyday life, as well as to recognize the situations in which they could be more easily vulnerable to the threats of possible criminals .
