The blue helmets of the Joint Task Force Lebanon on the basis of the “Taurinense” alpine brigade, they completed the construction of a covered cistern for collecting rainwater in the municipality of Ayta Ash Sha'b for the local junior school for disabled children.

The commander of the West Sector of the Unifil mission and of the Italian contingent, the civil and religious authorities of the village including the mayor mr. Youssefi Srour, Ayta's seniors Ash Sha'b and the school's teaching team.

All those present expressed their satisfaction with the work just inaugurated which will allow a better functioning and rationalization of the school's water resources, until now without cisterns or water storage tanks, thus confirming the excellent relations that for years exist between the local population and the Italian blue helmets.

The inaugurated project finds reason in the context of the support activities for the population aimed at achieving the objectives set by Resolution 1701, for the improvement of living conditions in the villages in southern Lebanon and was carried out with Italian funds dedicated to the development of projects of civil and military cooperation.

The “Taurinense” alpine brigade, a maneuvering unit of the Italian Army, has been deployed in Lebanon as part of the UNIFIL mission for about a month, for the first time with the non-permanent Italian-French bi-national conformation.
