An important delivery of medicines, clothing, toys and school supplies was carried out by the Blue Helmets of the Italian UNIFIL contingent in favor of Lebanese children and hundreds of small refugees.

"It was a great opportunity also for our soldiers", declared Colonel Carlo Di Pinto, commander of ITALBATT, the maneuvering unit based on the 3rd bersaglieri regiment of the “Sassari” brigade responsible for delivering the material. "This kind of initiatives, in fact, constitute the cornerstone of the work that UNIFIL intends to leave as a legacy to future generations, especially those most in need in Southern Lebanon".

This activity is part of the civil-military cooperation projects of the Italian contingent.

Words of appreciation were expressed by the congregation of the Marist Brothers, to whom the material was delivered, which deals with the education of children and young people, especially those most in need.

Assistance to the Lebanese population, together with monitoring the cessation of hostilities and support for the Lebanese armed forces, is one of the tasks assigned to the Italian contingent of UNIFIL in compliance with UN Security Council Resolution 1701.
