Lebanon: Blue Helmets deliver medicines to the Lebanese Red Cross

An important supply of medicines to combat the Coronavirus and the treatment of other diseases, for a value of approximately 250 thousand euros, was delivered to the Red Cross of Tire and Bint Jbeil by the Italian Blue Helmets framed in the United Nations Force deployed in Lebanon of the South (Unifil).

The drugs are largely antibiotics for the respiratory tract, recommended in the treatment of patients with Covid-19, but also drugs for the treatment of gastrointestinal diseases, meningitis, urinary tract infections, abdominal colic and gastritis.

The commander of the Italian contingent in Lebanon, Brigadier General Andrea Di Stasio, took part in the ceremony for the delivery of the medicines, who highlighted that "the donation is aimed at supporting in the health field of Lebanese people and families who are in particularly social and economic disadvantage.

The drugs ", in addition to the distribution of 14.000 surgical masks and 3.000 bottles of disinfectant gel purchased with funds from the Italian Ministry of Defense," will serve to meet the needs of the main hospitals and selected medical and outpatient centers identified by the authorities and by representatives of local communities ".
