This morning, at the base of Shama, headquarters of the headquarters of the Italian blue helmets in Lebanon, took place the ceremonies of rotation at the helm of the Combat Support Battalion and the Sector Mobile Reserve of the Sector West. Lieutenant Colonel Ivano Borserini succeeded Giuseppe Annecca, while Captain Salvatore Galasso replaced Captain Aurelio Murianni. The transfer of responsibility for these two important components took place in the presence of the commander of the Sector West of Unifil general Ugo Cillo.
The operational unit support battalion (Combat Support Battalion) guarantees the western sector the technical-speciliastic units supplied: by the 3rd engineer regiment of Udine, of the 7th transmission regiment of Sacile, the command and tactical support department "Pozzuolo del Friuli ”Of Gorizia, of the 7th NBC regiment of Civitavecchia and the 33rd transmission regiment of Treviso as well as dog assets of the military veterinary center of Grosseto. It also includes an Armenian company with force protection duties.
The Sector Mobile Reserve, reporting directly to the commanding general, is entrusted to the squadron of the Genoa Cavalleria Regiment (4 °) of Palmanova.
General Cillo thanked the military for the work done during the mandate and underlined the importance that the structures hold for the entire area of responsibility. Also present at the ceremony were Dr. Simona De Martino, first advisor to the Italian ambassador in Lebanon, General Pierluigi Monteduro, military attaché in Lebanon and the honorary consul of Italy in Tiro, Ahmad Seklaoui. The current mission in Lebanon is to lead the "Pozzuolo del Friuli" cavalry brigade. The Italian military has been working for ten years to implement the UN Security Council 1701 resolution.
