Lebanon: change command to the combat service support battalion

The ceremony for the transfer of command responsibility to the Adhesion Support Group (Combat Service Support Battalion - CSS BN) between the “Aosta” logistics regiment of Palermo and the “Folgore” logistics regiment of Pisa was held in Shama.

During the ceremony Brigadier General Rodolfo Sganga, commander of the Sector West of UNIFIL highlighted how the logistic component is extremely fundamental since, thanks to the technical skills of its staff, it is able to guarantee the efficiency of all the means and materials necessary for the success of the operations carried out on the Lebanese territory.

Under the command of Colonel Salvatore Pisciotta, men and women of the logistics regiment "Folgore" will operate under United Nations resolution 1701 and will be responsible for providing logistical support to the Italian and foreign departments in southern Lebanon.

In particular, the paratroopers of the "Folgore" logistics regiment will be responsible for ensuring that all personnel, vehicles and equipment are transported along the main road communication axes of central and southern Lebanon and will have to supply food and fuel supplies. for the Army departments deployed to oversee the Blue Line, on the border with Israel.

The logistic regiment also has the tasks of guaranteeing the maintenance and repairs of Italian and foreign military vehicles necessary for patrolling the sector of competence and guaranteeing all the services for the operation of the Shama base, home to the headquarters of the Sector West of UNIFIL where there are about a thousand Italian and foreign blue helmets. At the same time, the health structures of the Army department, through the capacity of medical care, will ensure the pre-hospital emergency medical treatment and will have the delicate task of assisting the Lebanese population.

The arrival in Lebanon of the "Folgore" logistic regiment completes the deployment of the "Folgore" paratroopers brigade units and represents, for the department, the first peace mission abroad by the 2013, the year in which the regiment returned to be a unit of the "Folgore" paratroopers brigade.
