Lebanon: change of command of the maneuvering unit of the Italian Army

This morning, at the Italian base of Al Mansouri, the alternation ceremony of the command of ITALBATT, the maneuvering unit of the Italian contingent of the UNIFIL mission, between colonel Angelo Di Domenico, transferor, and colonel Massimo Crocco Barisano Colizza, taking over.

The passage of the United Nations flag in the presence of the gen.B. Francesco Olla, commander of the Joint Task Force - Lebanon Sector West on the basis of the mechanized brigade "Granatieri di Sardegna", and of the standards of the "Genova Cavalleria" (4 °) and "Lancieri di Montebello" regiments (8 °), officially sanctioned the start of the operation "Leonte XXII" for the " Beautiful mountain".

Over the last month, the transferring Task Force "Genoa" conducted an Italian language course in favor of the young students of the Women's Institute of Shooting and one of Information Communication Technology in favor of around 10 women in collaboration with the Social Development Center which operates in the area south of the Litani. The training projects, in addition to having contributed to instilling a basic knowledge of the subjects dealt with, deliberately involved the important feminine dimension from the perspective of a gender perspective, a fundamental aspect in the conduct of the international operations of the United Nations.

The "reins" of the ITALBATT Task Force pass, then to the "Lancieri di Montebello" regiment (8 °), with the operational units of its own Exploring Squadron Group - which also express within the same operation the tactical reserve of the sector under the direct control of the commanding general, Sector West - and a Battalion of the 1st regiment "Granatieri di Sardegna", both stationed in Rome.

The operational tasks that the "Green Lancers" will be called upon to carry out in their area of ​​operation are defined by United Nations Security Council Resolution 1701 and which see, among its main objectives, the cessation of hostilities through constant monitoring of the Blue Line; support to the local population, through the operational function of civil-military cooperation (CIMIC); support to the Lebanese Armed Forces located in South Lebanon, through the coordination, planning and execution of joint training and operational activities.

The "Lancieri di Montebello" and the Grenadiers will continue to ensure the high representation and ceremonial state activities in the city of Rome, as well as the operational activities within the Operation "Safe Roads" in Rome Capital.
