"Six dragons of the Nizza Cavalleria have operated successfully "- Colonel Quarto said in his farewell speech -" this is due to the cohesion and high professionalism of all the staff who were able to guarantee a continuous and significant presence on the territory, combined to an effective and fruitful collaboration with the local population ".
During the six-month mission spent under the orders of Colonel Quarto, the Italbatt soldiers, including the soldiers of the battalion L'Aquila of the 9 ° alpine regiment, they carried out numerous patrols along the Blue line, the demarcation line that separates Lebanon from Israel and the coastal area south of the city of Tire.
Numerous operational and training activities were also carried out with the Lebanese armed forces with a view to increasing their independence for the security and stabilization of the area.
Equally important were the initiatives in support of the local population carried out through the implementation of civil-military cooperation projects in the nineteen municipalities in the area of responsibility.
From today, in the ranks of Italbatt, as well as personnel of the 151 infantry regiment Sassari, the knights of the regiment squadrons will operate Aosta Lancers (6th) of Palermo, of the regiment Light cavalry guides (19 °) of Salerno and soldiers of the 62 ° infantry regiment Sicilia of Catania.
