A seriously ill nine-year-old Lebanese child, from the municipality of Tura, will be hospitalized in Italy on Tuesday 14 March thanks to the initiative of the Italian contingent.

The request was received by the Italian blue helmets by the mayor of Tura, in southern Lebanon and, given the exceptional nature, the commander of the general contingent Ugo Cillo, with the collaboration of the logistic regiment "Pozzuolo del Friuli" which is the support battalion to the contingent, he worked to find national structures willing to welcome the young patient and finance the necessary care. The component of Civil and Military Cooperation of the national contingent took care of all the procedural aspects with the Italian Embassy in Lebanon and the various actors to allow the child to receive all the necessary care.

The child will then undergo a delicate intervention at the Infant Institute "Burlo Garofalo" of Trieste. This was made possible also thanks to the commitment and interest of the Friuli Venezia Giulia Region, the "Luchetta-Ota-D'Angelo-Hrvatin" Foundation, the "Bambini del Danubio" association, the Rotaract Club of Gorizia and the "Burlo Garofalo" of Trieste which provided for the health, travel and reception expenses of the young patient and his family.

"For us it is a great satisfaction - General Cillo said - being able to cope with such a delicate request. My thanks goes to all those who have accepted our request for collaboration, allowing the child and his family to be hosted in an important health facility right in the region where the "Pozzuolo del Friuli" cavalry brigade is located, allowing us to follow developments in first person".
