Lebanon: combat training in built-up areas for the Lebanese armed forces

The course of combat in the inhabited centers was concluded Friday Urban Fighting Course, in favor of the Lebanese armed forces (LAF) and held by the Italian contingent employed in the UNIFIL mission.

The activity, lasting two weeks, was conducted by the instructors of the ITALBATT maneuvering unit specialized in technical-tactical combat procedures in urban centers. The course allowed to qualify a LAF platoon in the planning and conduct of tactical activities in a context, current as the urban one.

From the care of individual equipment, to safety procedures for the use of weapons in confined spaces, to team movements in the isolation and assault of buildings; with the help of language assistants, the Italian blue helmets of Operation "Leonte XXII" transmitted the "know-how" of particular tactical activities to the LAF units, in a training cycle that has not been stopped for over ten years.

The training of the LAF located in Southern Lebanon is one of the most important targets provided for by resolution n.1701 of the United Nations Security Council, together with the constant monitoring of the Blue Line, through foot and motorized patrolling, as well as support for the population. local through the activities promoted by the units of the Civil and Military Cooperation (CIMIC).
