Lebanon: 16 greeting containers

(To UNIFIL)
15/12/15

The Italian contingent has set up in the base "Millevoi" of Shama, headquarters of the command of Sector West of Unifil, the traditional Christmas "tree" composed of sixteen containers, built and decorated by the Alpini of the Taurinense logistic regiment.

The short ceremony of turning on the lights, followed by the usual exchange of greetings was attended, along with the Italian blue helmets, also a large representation of citizens of Shama, the small Lebanese municipality that hosts the Italian base on its territory.

The sixteen containers, stacked to form the pyramidal profile, have been covered with military masking nets and decorated with strands of lights and a comet that dominates at 15 meters high. The star was made in the 2008 in this same base, during the Regiment's first engagement in Lebanon, the year in which this particular Christmas tree was seen for the first time.

The "Taurinense" Logistics Regiment constitutes the Combat Service Support Battalion in Lebanon, and is the unit that guarantees logistic support to the entire Italian contingent deployed in Lebanese territory, in support of the resolution 1701 of 2006 of the United Nations Security Council .
