Besides 130 Italian advisors sent by Train, Advise and Assist Command West (TAAC-W) on an alpine brigade basis Taurinense, completed the second phase of advice and advanced assistance to the commands of the Afghan security forces (ANDSF) engaged in the province of Farah within the framework of the "Khalid" - the campaign developed by the Kabul government to extend and guarantee the security in sensitive areas, where the control of security forces is more complex.

THEExpeditionary Advisory Package (EAP) of the TAAC-W, composed of Italian soldiers and of the coalition, operated for about two weeks on the advanced base "Thompson" in direct contact with the Afghan security forces to whom they provided advice and assistance for the organizational and conduct phase of the operation "Zafar 44" in the district of Bala Balouk, in continuation of the activities carried out in August in the west area of Farah, deemed crucial for the stabilization of the entire western region. The EAP was planned according to the cardinal principles of the Security Force Assistance (SFA).

The activities carried out by the Afghan Army and Police, as well as 800 employed men, determined a clear improvement in the security of the area, highlighting the effectiveness of the training and consultancy received by the mission advisors Resolute Support; factors that have also allowed the ANDFS to increase their autonomy in the planning and conduct phases. Among the results achieved by the operation Zafar 44, as reported by the commander of the 2 brigade, protagonist of the operation together with the police units, more than 16 improvised explosive devices (IEDs) were defused, and material was found for the packaging of other bombs.

In this perspective, the external activity of Train, Advise and Assist for the local Security Forces it has represented for the Italian contingent - thanks to the great experience acquired over the years and the specific professional skills acquired during the mission preparation phase - the result of years of work and training carried out in synergy with the local counterparts, for which the experience of the advisors of the Army and of the carabinieri allowed the raising of the operating standards.

The operation Resolute Support (RS) has the main task of continuing to train, advise and assist the ANDSF, which have assumed the responsibility to guarantee the safety of their country, to make them more adherent and effective to the function they cover.
