The TFA in support of the Šiauliai orphanage

22/06/15

During the morning of the 17 June, the Italian Air Task Force (TFA) of Šiauliai delivered to the local orphanage an apparatus that allows a child suffering from severe motor dysfunction to be able to improve their living conditions and be able to move even in an upright position (cd reliners).

The donation took place thanks to the precious contribution of all the TFA soldiers, those currently present and those who have been alternating since 1 January 2015 in command of col. Marco Bertoli.

Colonel Cracas stressed that “the Italian military in Lithuania not only fulfill the operational commitment dictated by the NATO mandate, but are mobilized for a sincere and unconditional closeness to the population of the host country. Until the end of our mandate - continued the commander - we will do everything possible to support the social realities that need attention and solidarity ”.

The event was attended by the deputy mayor of the city, Domas Griskevicius, a representative of the Lithuanian Air Force, as well as the entire staff of the orphanage and numerous media interested in spreading Italian opera. The director of the Orphanage Audrone Kardasiene said that “during all these years many nations have offered their precious contribution in supporting the orphanage, and even the Italians are leaving a tangible sign of the generosity and humanity that characterize them. We are really grateful ”.

The numerous children (around 70) staying in the family home were "adopted" by the Italian contingent who offered to satisfy their greater needs.

The humanitarian chain, started on the initiative of the Air Force military stationed in Šiualiai, involved important Italian companies such as the Operational Command of the Inter-Forces Summit (COI), the Fater company, the Scudi Institute of San Martino and the Lithuanian Consulate in Florence.

The 4 ° Stormo of Grosseto has mobilized in concert with the local Armed Forces Spiritual Association (PASFA) to send clothes, games and a check for purchases of basic necessities to Lithuania.
