Nave Euro continues the anti-piracy mission Atalanta, with the European naval force. The ship is engaged in the Indian Ocean. The operation, in addition to ensuring the safety of the seas and merchant traffic, also serves to contribute to the development and growth of the communities visited during the stops in port.
Thus, during the recent stop in Dar Es Salaam (Tanzania) the crew visited the KAWE kindergarten and the Vingunguti school, bringing food, stationery, medicines and other basic necessities from Italy. The crew of the Italian ship also donated a computer and a projector, spending a day with the children.
Aid has also reached the heart of Tanzania, for orphans, suffering from serious diseases, of the Nyololo orphanage, thanks to the collaboration with COPE (Cooperation for Emerging Countries), an NGO with which the Navy has carried out projects for development of Tanzania.
The stop was also an opportunity for training together with the Tanzanian navy. Our sailors planned and conducted an IED exercise (Improvised Explosive Device, improvised explosive devices), which was attended by the operators of the GOS (Diving Operative Group), the bomb squad embarked on board the Euro (the EOD team, Explosive Ordnance Disposal) who, together with 60 Tanzanian soldiers, trained in various practical activities of research, classification and disposal of explosive devices.
Boarding operations exercises were also carried out (boarding), with the fusiliers of the San Marco marine brigade and the Tanzanian navy who trained in the procedures of insertion and tactical movement on board.
Finally, in the passive defense sector, exercises were carried out to train the crew and personnel involved in fire fighting procedures.
