Cooperation between Italian soldiers and civilians produces important results in Djibouti

The Italian soldiers stationed in Djibouti have recently returned to the local leaders, the headquarters of the Subprefecture of Dammerdjog, a town south of the capital. The work carried out by the Italian military was the result of the effective Italian action of cooperation between military and civilian (CIMIC), which contributes to the cooperation process of the Italian military with the local authorities and communities.

The institutional structure was returned during a ceremony attended by the commander of the Italian Military Base of Support in Djibouti (BMIS), Colonel Lorenzo Guani and the sub-prefect, Mr. Abdi Chaib Nour Youssouf.

The Italian intervention was framed in a larger project of works that included the rebuilding of the electrical system, the painting of the offices, the installation of the false ceiling and the flooring of the building.

The activity planned and carried out by the specialists of the CIMIC Cell coming from the Multinational CIMIC Group of Motta di Livenza, had the objective of bringing a complete restructuring of the work environments, ensuring at the same time safety and comfort.

The sub-prefect, who greatly appreciated, thanked the commander for the work done, calling it a precious manifestation of Italian collaboration and called for future cooperation between Italy and Djibouti, through other projects in favor of the local community.

Italy has guaranteed its presence in Djibouti with the support base for over four years, becoming a reference point for all the operational and training activities that the Italian Armed Forces are called upon to perform, under the auspices of UN, NATO, EU or national, gravitating in the area of ​​the Horn of Africa / Indian Ocean.
