The European Multi-Mission Frigate (FREMM) Carabiniere of the Italian Navy arrived this morning in Abu Dhabi where it will remain until 12 May 2017.

The frigate arrived in the port of the capital of the United Arab Emirates after the stops in Saudi Arabia, Sri Lanka, Australia, Indonesia, Singapore, Malaysia, Pakistan, Oman, Kuwait, Qatar and again in Saudi Arabia taking part in various exercises with the navies locals.

Today at the local 15.00 (14.00 in Italy) the commander of the ship, frigate captain Francesco Pagnotta will hold a press conference on board during which he will present the naval campaign in progress and will illustrate the ship, jewel of the Italian shipbuilding industry. The Ambassador of Italy to the Emirates, Liborio Stellino will attend the same.

Ship Carabiniere is the fourth FREMM unit delivered to the Italian Navy in the "anti-submarine" 2015 version in April and is equipped with the latest generation weapon system, defense and discovery, at the forefront both in the military and civil sectors.

The unit will be committed to ensuring presence, maritime surveillance, strengthening existing co-operation activities with some trans-regional allies and establishing relationships with new potential partners in the core of institutional tasks entrusted to the Armed Forces.

The Nave campaign Carabiniere, left from La Spezia last December 20, reflects an international vision that traces this beginning of the millennium as a "blue century". That of "blue growth" is considered a key factor on which to aim for sustainable development of our country in a context where maritime is a fundamental resource for commercial growth, employment and technology.

The initiative was born with the collaboration of Fincantieri (main sponsor), Leonardo, MBDA Italia, Elettronica, Telespazio and Drass.
