Kuwait: milestone of 6000 flight hours for Eurofighters

With the flying missions of the last week, the task group Typhoon, framed in the task force air TFA Kuwait, has reached the important milestone of 6000 flight hours in the operating theater.

Established in 2019, the task group Typhoon is made up of men and women who make up the backbone of the group, providing technical, maintenance and operational support for Eurofighter aircraft Typhoon risked.

The task group, initially based at the Al Jaber air base, Kuwait, has been operational since April 2019 from Ali Al Salem airport, and has seen a continuous alternation of flight and specialist personnel from the 4th, 36th, 37th ° and 51 ° wing of the Air Force, together with the support one coming from the various Armed Forces bodies distributed throughout the national territory, demonstrating the excellent ability of the personnel to blend quickly and work together.

The main objective of the task group is to provide support to the Daesh contrast coalition by providing its TACRECCE (Tactical Reconnaissance) and DCA (Defensive Counter Air) capabilities. 

In the 6000 hours of flight of the Italian Eurofighters, over 750 missions and 16000 reconnaissance at points of interest were carried out, carrying out about 2400 refueling in flight.

The task group Typhoon it also carries out air-to-air and air-to-ground tactical training in dedicated areas in Kuwait. To date, more than 50 CAS (Close Air Support) and Range (ground shooting) training missions have been carried out, in collaboration with the TACP (United States Air Force Tactical Air Control Party) and the AH-64 Apache helicopters of the neighboring US base of Camp Beuhring.

The F-2000 aircraft, supplied to the task group Typhoon it ranks among the multiple assets assigned to the task force air, for the accomplishment of the mission entrusted within the multinational operation "Inherent Resolve", in which the national operation is developed First Parthica.

In addition to the task group TyphoonAt the 'Italian National Contingent Command Air - Kuwait, also operate the task group Phoenix with MQ-9 aircraft Predator B, the task group Albatros with the C-27Js, the task group medal with the C-130 J, the task group Breus with KC-767 transport and refueling aircraft, and the Italian Army Task Group SAMP / T SCUTUM equipped with an anti-aircraft defense system.

Operational activities in Kuwait are conducted under the coordination and according to the directives given by coperational order of joint top management (COVI), led by the general of the army corps Francesco Paolo Figliuolo. 

The COVI is in fact the top command of the joint operations area and also performs the functions of staff body of the Chief of Defense.
