The Italian trainers of the Mobile Training Teams (MTTs) have started a new training course in favor of the Zeravani, a military unit belonging to the Kurdish security forces engaged in the front line in the fight against the Daesh, on the use of the “Folgore” anti-tank weapon system at the explicit request of their commander.

This one-week course aims to form new military 10 Zeravani and to implement the training already carried out last year by the Italian trainers on the counter-tank weapon system to complete the “Steel Worked” operation which ended with the delivery of 50 “Folgore” and ammunition attached to the Autonomous Region of Iraqi Kurdistan.

The commander of the Zeravani, General Dler, expressed his sincere gratitude for the training capacity expressed by the Italian military that, thanks to the use of the "Folgore", allowed the Kurdish forces to face the dangers of the battlefield and to neutralize numerous suicide attacks that involved the his men in the latest military operations in the Sinjar area.
In particular, the "Folgore" system is integrated with other weapon systems that have been donated to the Kurdish security forces by other nations of the International Coalition that since September of the 2014 supports Iraq not only through the training offer but also in terms of armament aids, materials and equipment.

Training at the "Folgore" is part of a national training package coordinated with the Kurdistan Training Coordination Center included in the 9 ° training cycle. It is a training program that includes multiple activities such as training in procedures against improvised explosive devices, medical first aid, precision shooting techniques against enemy sniping, and the use of weapon systems indirect shooting and day and night tactical movement in urban and open field contexts.

The 9 training cycle, conducted by the instructors of the 7 nations present in Erbil (Italy, Germany, Holland, Hungary, Finland, Norway and Great Britain), started last week and will end at the end of the first decade of next February. With the conclusion of this course, more than 6000 military Kurds will be trained, almost all 3000 by Italian instructors.
