05/04/18

The first "Interagency NGOs Meeting" was held yesterday at the headquarters of "Villaggio Italia" with the aim of increasing the mutual knowledge of the capabilities and the level of cooperation between the KFOR Units and the "Non-Governmental Organizations" (NGOs ) present on the Kosovar territory.

The meeting focused on the possibility of exploring common solutions, from different perspectives, in the exchange of civil-military cooperation for shared support to local institutions.

The commander of the Multinational Battle Group West, Colonel Ettore Gagliardi, asked the NGOs to illustrate their mission and the objectives set. The MNBG-W, in competition with the KFOR Command, showed the current and future projects in the health and education sector, with particular emphasis on issues related to female discrimination and gender perspectives.

The meeting ended with a visit to the Role - 1 (military health facility) of the base, where the medical staff highlighted the potential expressed in favor of the local population, through the use of military health assets.

The Italian-led MNBG-W, based on the 185th “Folgore” parachute artillery regiment, as established by the United Nations resolution 1244, ensures the freedom of movement of the citizens of Kosovo, guaranteeing a safe and secure environment. With a view to the development of local institutions, through funds from the Italian Defense, CI.MI.C. (Civil and Military Cooperation) projects are promoted for the improvement of the living conditions of the population mainly in the health and education sector.
