Il regional command west (RC-W) of KFOR, based on the 11th Bersaglieri Regiment, conducts frequent operational patrolling activities along the administrative boundary line (ABL) between Serbia and Kosovo, included in the municipality of Istok/Istog, in order to monitor the territory and guarantee an adequate security framework.

RC-W's area of responsibility extends from Dragas/Dragash (south) to Istog/Istok (NORTH) and from Pec/Peje (WEST) to Kacanik (EAST), for a total of approximately 8.000 square kilometers.

Specifically, the stretch of ABL under the responsibility of RC-W is located north of the municipality of Istog/Istok and extends for a total length of approximately 16,75 kilometers and 1400 meters above sea level.

The multinational RC-W contingent, in the winter period, conducts frequent foot and motorized patrols, taking advantage of the tactical vehicles supplied, including the BV206S which offers high mobility in snow-covered and particularly compartmentalized terrain, in order to monitor, verify and prevent the transit of any illicit trafficking, reporting any suspicious activities and maintaining a constant presence within one's area of responsibility.

Il regional command west of Kosovo Force (KFOR), in line with United Nations Security Council Resolution 1244 of 1999, contributes to maintaining a safe and secure environment, as well as freedom of movement for all communities living in Kosovo.
