Kosovo: Italian soldiers of the Multinational Battle Group West in joint operational activity with the Serbian armed forces

The Multinational Battle Group-West (MNBG-W) of KFOR, under Italian leadership on the 3rd Mountain Artillery Regiment of the Alpine Brigade "Julia", conducted a synchronized patrol with the Serbian armed forces along the Administrative Boundary Line (ABL) which divides Kosovo from Serbia.

The periodic operational activity is part of a wider framework of territorial control aimed at monitoring the situation near the border areas and preventing any illegal activities in compliance with what is defined by the 1244 Resolution of the United Nations Security Council.

A similar cooperative activity (joint patrol) also takes place with the Kosovar security forces who are the first responsible for security near the border areas within the municipality of Istok, in the west of the region, in the area of ​​responsibility of the MNBG-W.

The military of Austria, Italy, Moldavia and Slovenia constitute the command and the multinational maneuvering battalion of the Multinational Battle Group West under Italian leadership also with duties of supervision and protection of the Monastery of Decane as first responder (first responsible), to control freedom of movement in the western sector of Kosovo, to carry out CIMIC projects (Civil and Military Cooperation) aimed at improving the utility of the services available to the Kosovar population, particularly in the health sector. of school education.
