The Italian military contingent based on the 132nd Tank Regiment of Cordenons (PN), part of the Multinational Battle Group West of KFOR, has provided for the conservative maintenance of a commemorative plaque placed in honor of Major Stefano Rugge, an officer of the Italian Army who died in 2002 in FYROM (former Yugoslav Republic of Macedonia) due to the explosion of a mine during the “Amber Fox” Mission.

The plaque was placed in Bec (western Kosovo) by Task Force Astro, near an educational center run by the nuns of the order of San Basilio. The structure, which in recent days has received a donation of material from the Italian military, houses fifty children belonging to different ethnic groups and religions, assisting them in education and learning.

Major Stefano Rugge, originally from Strudà (Lecce), served at the 10th Engineers Regiment of Cremona - 132nd Ariete Armored Brigade of Pordenone, the same large unit of the Italian Army to which the Cordenons tankers also belong. Following his heroic deed, he was awarded the silver medal for military valor for memory.
