Kosovo: The Multinational Battle Group-West engaged in multinational exercise

The interoperability between the various multinational components of the Kosovo Force (KFOR), joint training, familiarization and comparison on the different technical-tactical procedures for the consolidation of operational capabilities, have been the objectives of an exercise conducted by the Multinational Battle Group-West, unit of the Kosovo Force, with Italian leadership, currently based on 4 ° wagon regiment.

The activity was attended by a Portuguese rapid reaction unit of the Kosovo Tactical Monover Battalion (KTM), which carries out the task of reserve force, an Austrian component for garrisoning and patrolling the area, Italian assets for land monitoring and Slovenian soldiers in the role of "Opposing Force" (OPFOR).

The training falls within the framework of the tasks of the MMNBG-W which are to guarantee freedom of movement, ensure safety and stability in the entire sector of interest and preserve the safety of the Visoky monastery in the Decane area, where the Italian contingent operates as a direct responsible for the security of the religious site.

The exercise, which lasted three days, was conducted in 3 phases: preliminary operations of logistical preparation, preparatory exercises for controlling the crowds in opposing parties and an exercise phase in which a rapid intervention by KFOR forces aimed at was simulated with greater realism to face a threat against security and freedom of movement in the area of ​​interest.
