The army corps general Marco Bertolini, commander of the Interoperable Summit Operations Command (COI), he went to Kosovo, as part of a series of regular visits, to the main theaters of operations in which the Italian armed forces are involved in international missions, where he met the Italian soldiers working in the Kosovo Force (KFOR), as part of the NATO "Joint Enterprise" mission.

The visit was also an opportunity for an interview with the commander of the Kosovo Force, division general Guglielmo Luigi Miglietta, in which the current operating situation was discussed, with a focus on the issues of migration flows and the "foreign fighters".

"Kosovo, due to its geographical position, could represent only a potential transit region", underlined General Miglietta, "for this reason, KFOR carefully monitors the situation, maintaining a constant dialogue and exchange of information with neighboring countries, with international organizations and with local institutions, in order to be able to decipher any diversions in the migrants' movement lines in time ".

With regard to the "foreign fighters", Kosovo presents characteristics that are particularly favorable to recruitment: a recent past marked by the violence of the war; an unstable socio-economic situation and a high unemployment rate, especially among young people.

General Bertolini in addressing the Italian military expressed words of appreciation for the commitment, professionalism and dedication shown. "Make a difficult but exciting job, continue to honor Italy as you've always done."
