The military of the CIMIC (Civil Military Cooperation) cell of the Italian contingent of the Multinational Battle Group West (MNBG-W) carried out a delivery of materials and technical equipment (10 field tents 4x4, a spinal transfer model stretcher and a folding seat for wounded evacuation), supplied by the Italian Red Cross of Lugo and the SMOM (Sovereign Military Order of Malta ), in favor of the fire brigade of the Municipality of Djakova / Dakovica.

The Italian contingent, in the context of the CIMIC projects developed for the benefit of vulnerable populations, has instructed the Kosovar fire brigades on the use of donated materials to proceed with the construction of a camp for displaced persons in the event of natural disasters, which became necessary after the floods of the past years that caused serious damage.

The project was developed thanks to an effective coordination action between the CIMIC Sector Head of the Institute of Research Information Defense Research (ISTRIO), Dr. Roberto Faccani, promoter of humanitarian activity, the Interforce Operations Operational Command (IOC), organizer transport of materials in Kosovo, and the CIMIC cell of the Multinational Battle Group West who provided for the delivery and training in the use of technical materials for the Fire Brigade.

Dr. Faccani and Colonel Enzo Ceruzzi, commander of the MNBG-W on the basis of 3 ° mountain artillery regiment of the Alpine "Julia" brigade, with a significant ceremony formalized the passage of materials to the local Kosovo institution as a testimony to the success characterized by the interaction between the civil and military components, a factor that is now indispensable in all operational scenarios, which is part of a broader and more functional sphere of cooperation called the country system.

At the end of the event it was agreed on the need to carry out a further intervention in the coming months aimed at providing the Kosovar fire brigade with the equipment needed to complete a Advanced Medical Place (PMA) in order to bring health relief near the sites of calamitous events and to donate uniforms and equipment.

This activity falls within the scope of the MNBG-W tasks envisaged by United Nations Security Council Resolution 1244 with regard in particular to the development of projects of the Civil and Military Cooperation (CIMIC).

The Italian-led multinational KFOR command currently consists of approximately 650 men and women belonging to the four contingents of Italy, Austria, Moldavia and Slovenia.
