The ceremony to change the commander of the Joint Regional Detachment Center (JRDC), a multinational unit made up of soldiers and civilians from different nations, took place today, in the presence of the commander of KFOR division general Guglielmo Luigi Miglietta. Colonel Corrado Benzi who held the post since 6 November 2014 was replaced by Colonel Massimo Mela.

"The Joint Regional Detachments - recalled General Miglietta - are essential for KFOR because they build and maintain stable and fruitful relations, based on mutual trust, with local institutions and security organizations".

Colonel Benzi, in his farewell speech, recalled how "working in a multinational environment like KFOR made up of people of many different cultures, experiences and sensitivities, has been a challenge but also an honor and a privilege, because these same soldiers are united under a single flag, they aim at the same goal and speak with one voice ”.

The JRD is a multinational unit of KFOR. Its task is to establish and maintain constant relationships based on mutual knowledge and trust with the population, local authorities, religious institutions and international organizations present in their area of responsibility. The purpose of this activity is to “take the pulse” of the situation, observe and interpret the political, social, economic and security dynamics in the area, thus providing KFOR with an updated situation of what is happening in Kosovo.
