In recent days, the carabinieri of the NATO-KFOR mission (Kosovo Force) donated a portable hydraulic shear to the fire department of the municipality of North Mitrovica for rescue operations in inaccessible areas.

Brigadier General Ruggiero Capodivento, commander of the MSU, handed over to the commander of the North Mitrovica barracks the precious battery-operated instrumentation that will allow the local fire brigade units to intervene in inaccessible and difficult to reach areas, effectively replacing the obsolete material supplied which limited its use on the ground.

The Italian units of civil-military cooperation, thanks to the widespread presence of the carabinieri in the area - employed in maintaining security - they identify critical issues and promote initiatives to help the Kosovar communities through funds and projects endorsed by the operational command of the joint forces (COVI), in collaboration with the Red Cross and the organizations of local volunteers, without distinction of ethnicity, religious belief or political orientation, aimed at promoting the development of the stability process in the area.

As part of the NATO mission in Kosovo, Italy's contribution is today among the highest among the 27 participating countries.

The Italian contingent, as sanctioned by resolution 1244 of the United Nations Security Council, works to guarantee freedom of movement, as well as to maintain a safe environment for all communities in Kosovo.
