KFOR: General Farina meets the head of the ff.aa. of Montenegro and the commander of the KSF

The commander of the Kosovo Force (KFOR), division general Salvatore Farina, received today, in the multinational headquarters "Film City", the chief of defense of Montenegro, admiral Dragan Samardzic.

The two commanders discussed the situation in the Balkans and Kosovo, with particular regard to the predominantly Serbian northern area, marked progress in controlling the Kosovo - Montenegro border and agreed on the importance of cooperation between KFOR and the armed forces of Montenegro , aimed at increasing security in the region.

General Farina underlined the improvement in the security sector after the agreement between Pristina and Belgrade, signed by the parties last April 19 last year and confirmed the continuous effort of the NATO mission in support of peace, cooperation and progress on everything. the territory. At the same time, the commander of KFOR stressed the importance of the recent reopening of civilian air traffic over the skies of Kosovo, made possible by the goodwill shown by all the neighboring countries, including Montenegro.

General Farina and Admiral Samardzic then met the commander of the Kososo Security Force, General Kastrati. During the trilateral meeting, "search and rescue", emergency management, flood intervention, EOD (Explosive Ordnance Disposal) and health emergencies were discussed.

On this occasion, the KFOR leader renewed NATO's support, in accordance with the current mandate, to the Kosovo Security Force, which represents an important interlocutor in Kosovo and in the Balkan area for security and stability.

The commander of KFOR, after thanking General Samardzic for the support of the armed forces of Montenegro to the KFOR mission, highlighted the importance of the planned "A5 conference" in June, in which the heads of state will take part greater than the defense of Albania, FYROM, Kosovo, Montenegro and Serbia on the issue of security and the development of specific capabilities in the region to respond to emergency situations. At the same conference, representatives of Slovenia and Serbia and for the first time the leaders of the Kosovo Security Force (KSF) should be invited as observers.

Today's meeting is part of a larger agenda of scheduled appointments with representatives of the armed forces of neighboring countries. General Farina, in fact, periodically meets the respective chiefs of the General Staff of the defense of Serbia, Albania, FYROM and Montenegro.
