KFOR, change to the Joint Regional Detachment Center

In recent days, in the presence of KFOR commander General of division Giovanni Fungo, the ceremony of changing the commander of the Joint Regional Detachment Center (JRD-C), a multinational unit composed of military and civilians from five different nations.

Colonel Francesco Randacio, from the Military Army of the Modena Army where he held the post of Chief of Staff, took over from Colonel Massimo Mela who held the 1 September 2015 position.

"The three Joint Regional Detachments (South, Center and North) - recalled COMKFOR - they perform an important task for KFOR because they allow to better know the society of Kosovo through the development of relations and dialogue with the main local institutions and to increase, day by day, the effectiveness of KFOR's action - finally, the general concluded - I thank Colonel Mela for the great work he has done and I wish the new commander to continue on the road, well traced by his predecessor".

Colonel Mela, in his farewell address, recalled how "the members of the Joint Regional Detachments are called to play a vital role in the mission not only as professional soldiers but also as true ambassadors of KFOR in Kosovo. In respecting this, we have maintained excellent relations with a large part of the population and improved those with local actors, on the other hand, we have had the mutual trust and security of KFOR, in perfect harmony with our current motto 'Trust and Commitment ' ".
