KFOR: operational patrol activity in Kosovo

The regional command west (RC-W) of KFOR, based on the 11th Bersaglieri Regiment, conducts frequent operational patrolling activities within its area of ​​responsibility and near the administrative border line (ABL), with the objective to monitor the territory and guarantee an adequate security framework.

RC-W's area of ​​responsibility extends from Dragas/Dragash (SOUTH) to Istog/Istok (NORTH) and from Pec/Peje (WEST) to Kacanik (EAST) for a total of approximately 8000 square kilometers. Specifically, the stretch of ABL under the responsibility of RC-W is located north of the municipality of Istog/Istok and extends for a total length of approximately 16,75 kilometers and 1400 meters above sea level.

The multinational RC-W contingent conducts numerous foot and motorized patrols, using the tactical vehicles supplied, at all times of the year, in order to monitor, verify and prevent the transit of any illicit trafficking, reporting suspicious activities.

The regional command west of the Kosovo Force (KFOR), in line with United Nations Security Council Resolution 1244 of 1999, contributes to maintaining a safe and secure environment, as well as freedom of movement for all communities living in Kosovo.
