Iraq: finished three courses for the Iraqi police carried out by the carabinieri, almost 900 trained new policemen

In recent days the Carabinieri Task Force  in Baghdad, part of the "Prima Parthica" mission, concluded three training courses in favor of about 900 policemen of the Federal Police and Local Police Iraqi.

The graduation ceremony was held in Camp Dublin, in the presence of numerous civil and military authorities, including US and Italian ambassadors in Iraq, the US president's special envoy for the anti-ISIS global coalition, Ambassador Brett McGurk, accompanied by the highest leaders of the coalition, the deputy representative of the UN Secretary-General, Lise Grande, the Iraqi Deputy Interior Minister gen. d. Mowafaq and the representative of the European Union delegation, mr. Thierry Martin. For Italy was present the Chief of Staff of the General Command of the Carabinieri, gen. ca Ilio Ciceri.

Ambassador McGurk had words of praise for Italy's commitment in Iraq and appreciation for the professionalism of the Carabinieri in preparing Iraqi police officers, belonging to all ethnic groups, destined to operate in the territories freed from the control of the 'ISIS.

During the ceremony some practical exercises were held which demonstrated the excellent level of ability and preparation achieved by Iraqi personnel.

The authorities intervened expressed their gratitude and appreciation for the training activities conducted by the Italian armed forces in Iraq, in particular for the efficiency of the organization, the professionalism of the trainers and the results achieved.

The Italian ambassador Massimo Carnelos illustrated the multidisciplinary approach of our country in supporting Iraq with the various components - military, humanitarian, stabilization and cultural - focusing on the courses on the protection of cultural heritage recently started by the carabinieri in favor of experts from the Interior Ministry in Baghdad.

Since June 2015 Italy has deployed one in Baghdad Carabinieri Task Force of 90 men who trained about 2100 local policemen.
