Iraq: 1st "Law & Order" course ends

Last Monday the carabinieri engaged in Iraq as part of the International anti-Daesh Coalition, in the training of local police forces, concluded the "1st Law & Order course", dedicated to the Police Forces of the provinces of Al Anbar and Ninawa, between the most interested against Daesh.

The end-of-course ceremony, focused on the main police techniques but also on respect for human rights, environmental protection and cultural heritage, was held at Camp Dublin, Home of the Carabinieri Training Unit, in the presence of the general commander of the Arma, gen. ca Tullio Del Sette, of various officers of the Interoperable Summit Operations Command (COI) and of the General Command of the Weapon.

Before receiving the certificates of participation, the students carried out two practical exercises, one on the control of people and vehicles during a checkpoints, and another of sweeping buildings with the capture of a terrorist, which showed the excellent level of skill achieved.

General Del Sette gave a speech of encouragement to the Iraqi police, for the important challenge to which they are called for the reconstruction of their country. There was no lack of expressions of appreciation from all the authorities present for the work carried out by the carabinieri for the training of the Iraqi police forces and for the delicate stabilization and reintegration of displaced persons in the liberated areas.

The visit of the commander general was also an opportunity to meet with local and diplomatic authorities, who expressed their esteem and appreciation for the activities carried out by our soldiers. General Del Sette also met, at the Italian embassy in Iraq, all the carabinieri involved there, with whom he recalled the sacrifice of the soldiers of the Arma who fell in those lands, finally expressing his closeness to the soldiers and their families by offering best wishes for the upcoming holidays.
