Iraq, Praesidium operation: Comparative female personnel

Within the framework of the operational activities and development of military cooperation, a meeting between the female soldiers of the Italian contingent of the Task Force "Praesidium" and the fighters peshmerga of the Kurdish Security Forces (KSF) present in the operations area of ​​the Mosul Dam.

The activity of female engagement it constitutes an important part of the actions to be undertaken in the Operating Theater to encourage the implementation of projects aimed at improving the condition of women and, more generally, relations between soldiers of different nationalities. In particular, the meeting with Kurdish military women, in the framework of the constant collaboration of the “Praesidium” Task Force with the local military authorities, is an element that fits into the defensive architecture of the dam. In addition, the presence of female personnel from private companies working on the consolidation of the basin structures has contributed to giving added value to the conversations based on common interests and traditional and social curiosities.

The meeting took place in the presence of the commander of the “Praesidium” Task Force on the 6th Bersaglieri regiment base, the commander of the KSF and the commander of the Kurdish female military.

They were also present at the "Mosul Dam" base, in the area of ​​responsibility of the Italian military contingent for the safety of dam maintenance work, including the representative of the body of engineers of the United States Army and the representatives of Trevi SpA and STER.

Italy, in compliance with the UN Security Council Resolutions n. 2170 (2014) of 15 August 2014 and no. 2178 (2014) of 27 September 2014 - issued following the request for help presented on 20 September 2014 by the Permanent Representative of Iraq to the UN to the President of the Security Council - deployed about 950 men between Iraqi Kurdistan and Baghdad women of all the Armed Forces and constitutes, after the American one, the largest contingent as evidence of the profound and concrete commitment that Italy is providing in contrasting Da'esh.
