The coalition health personnel, led by the Italian medical officer of the J4 med of the KTCC (Kurdish Training Coordination Center), conducted a tutorial on the MASCAL plan activation procedures (Mass Casualty).

A MASCAL situation - Mass Casualty it is determined when the number, type or severity of incidents in a high-intensity operating theater exceeds the available treatment capacities and competences of individual nations.

The coalition health teams, coordinated by the Italian-led KTCC operations room managed for the exercise by Italian personnel, simulated the intervention in an emergency situation (15 injured) for three contingents under enemy attack (Italian, Dutch and English ) successfully activating the collection, triage and stabilization plan for the soldiers involved at the wounded collection point.

The immediate evacuation of the wounded in the different Role 1 (first aid and stabilization health facility) of the countries not involved in the event and the transport of the most serious cases to the US Role 2 (emergency surgical assistance facility) pointed out high interoperability of coalition health teams and consolidated standardization of operating procedures.
