Yesterday the Italian military trainers of the Erbil Task Force concluded the first phase of the 6 training cycle of a peshmerga battalion of 300 men.

The activity was conducted by the multinational command Kurdish Training Coordination Center (KTCC), currently under Italian guidance, which coordinates the Italian, English, German, Dutch, Norwegian, Finnish and Hungarian military instructors.

The training cycle ended with military exercises that verified the acquisition of the full operational capacity of the Kurdish unit through the planning of the battalion and company command level and the conduct of defensive and offensive tactical activities in different operating environments and in special situations such as that of fighting in built-up areas.

The Kurdish authorities, during the graduation ceremony, expressed their appreciation for the continued growth of the peshmerga's operational capabilities.

The Kurdish Training Coordination Center, currently composed of about 530 men and women belonging to 7 nations, has trained about 4000 men belonging to the Kurdish security forces since last January, of which about 1500 have been trained by 120 Italian military instructors.
