The Italian military trainers, coordinated and directed by the multinational command KTCC (Kurdish Training Coordination Center) under Italian leadership, have completed the cycle of training activities (7 ° infantry basic course) for about 250 Peshmerga,)

The training cycle ended with some military exercises that certified the acquisition of full operational capacity which includes multiple activities such as individual combat training, knowledge of C-IED procedures (against improvised explosive devices), the use of 60mm mortar, medical first aid, planning and conducting defensive and offensive tactical activities in different operational environments and in particular situations such as in built-up areas.

The representatives of the Ministry of Peshmerga appreciated the meritorious work carried out by the Italian instructors within the delicate international mandate, highlighting how the quality of military training received contributes to the success of military operations conducted against the Daesh Jhadists (ISIS).

The Italian contingent, located in Iraqi Kurdistan and made up of about 200 men and women, has trained over 2000 peshmerga since last January out of a total of about 5000 trained trainers of the coalition made up of 7 European nations (Italy, Germany, Great Britain, Norway, Finland, Holland and Hungary).
