Iraq, Combat Medic course in favor of Kurdistan's Security Forces

It concluded, at theinfantry training centre of Atrush (ITC), the 4th "Combat Medic" course carried out by the soldiers of the Italian Army in favor of Kurdistan's Security Forces.

The course is part of the typical activities conducted within the operation First Parthica,  lasted 2 weeks and featured several military personnel who may be deployed in hostile and combat environments as attending personnel.

Based on the international guidelines of the "Tactical Combat Casualty Care" (TCCC), the course was carried out by the Italian soldiers from the 3rd Alpine Regiment and provided attendees with the ability to analyse, in an operational context, the wound of an firearm or explosive weapon, stabilize it through the use of medical or makeshift devices and equipment.

The course ended with a final exercise, during which the Kurdish soldiers simulated a firefight, the rescue of two gunshot wounds and their transfer to the tactical field care, where the standard TCC procedure was tested, which includes massive-hemorrhages, airways, breathing, circulation, head injury-hypothermia-handling and pain management, antibiotics, wound splinting

Present at the final exercise phase were the commander of the Atrush ITC, Colonel Zaid Rekani and the commander of the Italian National Contingent Command-Land.

The activities carried out in the operational theater are conducted under the coordination and according to the directives given by the joint top operational command (COVI).
