At Camp Singara, the Italian base of Erbil in the autonomous region of Iraqi Kurdistan, the ceremony for the transfer of responsibility to the command of theItalian National Contingent Command - Land within the scope of the Operation First Parthica: after more than six months, at the helm of the Italian contingent in Iraq, Colonel Daniele Pisani handed over the command to Colonel Stefano Salvadori.
The ceremony was held in the presence of the deputy operational commander of the joint forces, general of the air squadron Nicola Lanza De Cristoforis, and was attended by Iraqi civil, religious and military authorities and representatives of the various contingents of the coalition.
The passage of the contingent flag ideally sanctioned the transfer of responsibility between the two officers.
In taking the floor, the air force general Nicola Lanza De Cristoforis, after having expressed his satisfaction with Colonel Pisani for the results achieved, wished Colonel Salvadori the best of luck and that he would continue in the footsteps of his predecessor. He thanked all the IT NCC Land staff for what they are doing in the delicate operational theater in the name of continuity and progress in support of the international anti-Daesh coalition.
During the 6 months of mission, the Italian contingent deployed in Iraq, made up of about 300 Italian soldiers, based on the "Julia" Alpine brigade, with its training teams of the Carabinieri and the Italian Army, trained over 1400 soldiers of the Iraqi Police and Security Forces.
The incoming contingent, made up of personnel from the "Taurinense" Alpine Brigade, will continue the work already undertaken by their predecessors, aimed at implementing the progressive training self-sufficiency of the local security forces.
The Italian Armed Forces together with the partners of the international Coalition in the context of the international mission First Parthica they are on the front line for the stabilization of the area alongside the local forces to neutralize the last Isis terrorist resistance cells, re-establish the sovereignty of the state and support the Armed and Police Forces capable of guaranteeing the security of the nation.
