Iraq: 1 ° Female Mobile Training course

The first course ended with the delivery of the participation certificates Female Mobile Training, dedicated to the Iraqi female police at the Institute "Civil Defense Training Center" in Baghdad (Iraq), which was attended by three women officers of the Carabinieri, as lecturers.

The course, organized as part of the international mission Operation Inherent Resolve-Prima Parthica from the Carabinieri Task Force, it saw the participation of 33 Iraqi policewomen, some already in force with the police for years, others for a few months.

The training was organized with the specific objective of transmitting Italian competences in the field of gender violence and equal opportunities to Iraqi colleagues, analyzing the position of women in society and their role in Iraq, and examining issues concerning the protection of human rights and the treatment of victims of domestic violence.

The course saw enthusiastic participation by the Iraqi police force, whose representatives assisted with interest and constructive spirit in the debates following each day of lecture, on the various subjects of the course. In the same way, they also participated with determination in the technical-practical training part, also part of the training course.

During the lessons different communication approaches were exploited: reading texts and newspaper articles, the projection of films and reportages with data, the direct comparison resulting from the analysis of legislative texts. The course, held in English, saw the permanent presence of an Arabic-speaking interpreter.

The ceremony took place in the presence of Iraqi Interior Minister Qasim Al Araji, Major General Abdulkareem training director of the ministry, as well as Italian, Spanish, Canadian and European Union diplomatic missions. In the circumstance the Minister of the Interior acknowledged the importance of the training program and the commitment made by the Carabinieri in developing the entire project, hoping right away for the availability of a future further collaboration in the sense, which could further bring the relations between the two countries.
